Harrogate Ladies Who Latte
'Women’s business group celebrates successful first year'
Harrogate Ladies Who Latte launched in February last year (2023) and now has 130 members from across the Harrogate district as well as Ilkley, York, Leeds and Bradford.
It aims to offer a relaxed environment for working women to find the support, inspiration and confidence they need to drive their ambitions and businesses forward.
Part of a nationwide network, the Harrogate group was the first Ladies Who Latte to set up in North Yorkshire. Its success has already inspired a sister group in York, which launched in November.
It is led by Sarah Shaw, a senior public engagement manager, and Carol Beeley, director of On The Spot Accountants, who both live in Harrogate. They have been supported from the outset by Jan Moxham, co-owner of Lilypad Restaurant on Kings Road, where the meetings are held.
Sarah said:
“I think our success is down to the informal and friendly nature of the group. There are no speakers, no membership fees, no agenda, and no pitches or presentations. It’s just a really friendly, vibrant and professional space for like-minded working women to support and inspire each other."
"Many of our ladies work from home or run their own business, so they really value getting together for a coffee and a chat. They become more confident and motivated through feeling part of a work community.”
Drop-in meetings are held between 9.30am and 11.30am on the second Wednesday of every month. The group is free and open to all women in employment or running their own business. There is no pre-registration, with those who attend then invited to join a closed Facebook community for further promotion and networking opportunities.
Carol said:
“The response to Harrogate Ladies Who Latte has been amazing and we are so pleased to celebrate our first birthday. Many of our members have already built strong relationships with each other, both on a personal and business level. We are adding new members every time we have a meeting and, even if you can only spare half an hour to drop by for a quick coffee, you’ll be given a warm welcome.”
